At the invitation of Ashin Pyinnyananda, a Sri Lankan Buddhist Bhikkhu of Risarlarwarayanpa Temple in Lucknow, Saradawgree U Chandramani went there accompanied by Ashin Dhamma Rakkhita, Ashin Dhamma Lawka and Ashin Anandarkawsalayana. In a large marquee, specially erected for the conversion ceremony, over fifty thousand people were waiting. Saradawgree blessed them all with the Buddha, Dhamma, and Sangha Triple Gems and asked them to observe the five Buddhist precepts.

On the following day there was a Buddhist meeting to be attended. Participants in the meeting included the leader of the Maha Bodhi Society, Mr. Daewapiyasingh; a son of Dr. Ambedkar, Mr. Yathawunta Ambedkar; and a Member of Parliament and the Chairman of the Buddha Mahasabar Association, Mr. Dardarsahaewar. The meeting was also attended by many Bhikkhus from Cambodia, Laos, Thailand; Mongolia. Myanmar and India, amongst many others.

The main subjects discussed included how to improve religious knowledge and education, how to plan and practise, and how to deal with those matters. Also included was a decision to promote Venerable Saradawgree Ashin Chandramani to the highest rank of `Mahanayaka' in recognition of his Buddhist missionary work in India. After accepting the grand title and a written certificate of `Mahanayaka'(the Great Patron), and finishing other necessary work in Lucknow, Saradawgree returned happily and peacefully to Kushinagar.
