After Saradawpharagree U Chandramani'and Ashin Dhammaloka's return to Kushinagar from Myanmar, Ashin Dhammaloka told Saradawgree that he would like to return to Nepal to observe his Waso and start eradicating the false religion he had observed there. Saradawgree cautioned Dhammaloka to be very careful and mindful in everything he was to do. Ashin Dhammaloka returned to Nepal on the fourteenth day of the month of Warkhoung.
After about two months, Saradawpharagree received a letter in which Ashin Dhammaloka explained that he had been arrested at 4 pm, on the day he arrived in Nepal; he had been kept under police arrest for six days and on the seventh day was taken to Court. When questioned by the Judge, he told him that he was a Kathmandu resident and a Wari-Buddhist. The Judge asked why he was wearing such clothing; he replied that in India there were two kinds of Buddhists, one `Gahahta' and the other, `Anagaria'; the Anagaria Bhikkhus wore the kind of clothing he was wearing.
The Judge then asked the police why such an obviously innocent person had been arrested. The police said that if all Nepalese were to dress like that there would be all kinds of problems for the country, and that was the reason Dhammaloka was arrested. The Judge said that not every Nepalese would act like that; only those who truly wished to reach Nirvana. The Judge therefore ruled that Ashin Dhammaloka was completely innocent and ordered him to be freed. The Judge concerned was Minister Yuddhathamaye.
On gaining his freedom, Ashin Dhammaloka went on his daily round for food into the City of Kathmandu, but obtained none. However, he said he had succeeded in what he had set out to do. Only Buddhist monks and novices were needed to successfully carry on the Buddhist tradition in Nepal.
Saradawpharagree was very happy to hear that good news.
